Welcome to our Seventh Annual Art in The Square in beautiful Downtown Gainesville, Georgia. Main Street Gainesville and Art in the Square Association are thrilled to present Art in the Square to friends new and old, neighbors and visitors, and art enthusiasts of all ages. Art in the Square abounds with opportunities for the entire family to experience and to celebrate fine art. Since its beginning in 2004, Art in the Square, with the generous help of its sponsors, has raised thousands of dollars to help fund charitable organizations in our area.

On September 18 come drench your senses in the art, music, crafts, and food of this all-day juried art festival, free to the public. Stroll down the tree-lined streets of Gainesville's celebrated Downtown Square and visit with the creators of original art. Kick back to the continuous beat of regional musicians while sipping your beverage of choice and munching your favorite eats from our local restaurants. Bring the whole family - kids of all ages will enjoy various activities in the Youth Artist Market. Youngsters will revel in the hands-on creative arts activities while enjoying their very own youth-oriented entertainment.

This year's event features over 90 well known regional artists. Works include fine art, sculpture, pottery, photography, and wood carving as well as jewelry and other artistic endeavors. Our Juror this year is Christopher Sherry, Registered Architect and Art Faculty Member of Johns Creek Art Center and Quinlan Visual Art Center. Chris will be awarding 5 Awards of Excellence to selected participating artists.

We are holding a Silent Auction of original artwork to benefit Challenged Child and Friends. Please go to Gallerie 110 at 110 Washington Street and bid on one of the 40 fabulous paintings donated by talented local artists. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to Challenged Child and Friends. The artwork will be on display from August 18 through September 18, 2010. Bidding closes at 4:00pm on September 18, 2010.

Additionally, hand-painted miniature lamps will also be offered for Silent Auction at Frames You-Nique, 104 Main Street, from August 18 through September 18. Please join us in support of Challenged Child and Friends.
